Marvel's superhero Thor is now recasting him as a woman

Marvel Comics has unveiled a latest change in their hammer-wielding Norse superhero, Thor, by recasting him as a woman .

According to the publisher, the change was done in hopes that the recasting Thor would attract more women and girls to superhero comic books, the BBC reported.

The first adventures for the new female Thor are due to begin in October and the new artwork, by Russell Dauterman, reveals the once strapping and bearded Thunder God as a buxom blonde, clad in a caped costume.

Marvel has described the move as "one of the most shocking and exciting changes ever to shake one of the 'big three' of Captain America, Iron Man and Thor, while the writer of the new Thor series, Jason Aaron, has said that it wouldn't be "She-Thor" or "Lady Thor", or even "Thorita", its " Thor".
